SAGATUG meetings have moved!

SAGATUG is a group of personal computer users who gather together on the 3rd Friday of every month, from 7:00 PM to about 9:00 PM or so, at West Covina Christian Church, 1100 East Cameron Avenue, West Covina, CA.  That's South of the San Bernadino Freeway, and North of the Pomona Freeway, between Valinda Ave. and Lark Ellen Ave.   Look for the stick pin in the middle of the maps below:

What do we do at the meetings, you ask?

For those that are interested, yes, we do have our meetings at a church, but they are not in the sanctuary, and we do not discuss religion.

Following description is for past meetings.  A new format will be discussed at the April meeting.

For the first hour, we gather around those who are brave enough to lug their own personal computer to the meeting.  This includes desktop computers, as well as laptops.  Occasionally, someone will bring in their computer to get help diagnosing a problem; to sell an older computer they no longer need; or to get help installing some new hardware they just bought.  Sometimes, they even bring in their newest computer or electronic device they just purchased.

For the second hour, we have what we call "The RAM Session".  This is where we all gather together in a "round table" fashion for a more formal session, with a mediator (usually the President of the club).  This is where we discuss past and new business, announcements regarding both the club and computers in general, and accept comments from the membership.  This may include interesting information members have run into lately, problems they want the membership to help them solve, or advice on buying software or hardware they are interested in.  This alone is worth the price of admission.  Some clubs do not have this in their meeting agenda. . .  What a SHAME...!!

Occasionally, we have a demo from one of the members, or a guest speaker from a software or hardware company.  Sometimes, depending on the guest speaker's requirements, we have their demo in place of the RAM session.  For more information on Special Meetings,  click here.

We always have a "Freebie Table" where members leave anything they no longer need for whoever may have need of it.  For example: old PC magazines, hardware and software flyers (some with User Group discount coupons!), software demo disks, newsletters from other user groups, and occasionally, an original, full version software program.  This is also where mailings the club receives are placed for the members' to inspect or take home.

After the RAM Session is adjourned, we go back to the main room, where we continue individual discussions, gather around the computers that were brought to the meeting, leave for home, or whatever.

Guests are always welcome, and ownership of a computer is not required, so please stop by and visit our meeting any time!
